Are you an Eagle stuck in the chicken coop?

Do you want to soar like an eagle to discover new possibilities and purpose; or, do you prefer to wander around the confines of a chicken coop, predictable and safe? If your answer is to hang out with the chickens, read no further. This blog is for those who want to break free and fly - who want to discover unknown mountaintops, lush valleys, and vast seas; those seeking new possibilities with the courage to turn them into realities.

If you are an eagle stuck in a chicken coop because fear, insecurity, and doubt are clipping your wings, the first step is to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. There may be voices all around you telling you what you "can't" do. Put in earplugs and tell yourself what you "can" do! God has created you for His unique purpose; you are His masterpiece, and He has a great plan for your life. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11). Take that first step to fly up and perch on a nearby branch. Each time we move forward, look up and reach for higher ground, our confidence increases. What is holding you back? or holding you down? Remove the obstacles, dare to dream, have a vision, prepare, and then fly out of the chicken coop.

Once you are out of the coop and perched on a secure branch, PRAY for guidance. There are so many directions and paths in life. Sometimes the fear of taking the wrong step or making the wrong choice paralyzes us. There may be some wrong turns to correct as we go through life, but without effort and action, there is no hope to find the right path. When we grow weary, perch and pray for strength. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)

Stay STRONG. Our bodies are designed to regenerate and heal themselves if we take care of them. Removing toxic foods (which accumulatively cause inflammation, illness, and chronic disease) from our diet, and replacing them with clean whole foods which nourish and hydrate, is a great start to increasing energy and overall health. Hydration, fresh air, exercise, reducing stress, cleaning up our environment, and practicing benevolence promote optimum health, and enable us to soar to new heights. A purposeful life keeps our minds hopeful, at peace, and engaged. Hope replaces despair, and with no despair, there is no depression. Our spirit is free to fill up with joy, and like fresh spring waters, an overflowing refreshment to those around us. Choose to be a contagion of joy, instead of illness.

Be INDEPENDENT. Sometimes, when we are surrounded by chickens, we feel pressured to conform, fear rejection, or buckle under criticism and mockery. Let's face it. Chickens are not going to understand eagles, or if they do, they feel convicted by their own cowardice and can only feel better by convincing themselves (and you) that you are foolish, incapable, or a dreamer doomed to fail. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with the chicken coop if that's truly where you belong. As Emerson stated, Be true to yourself. Have the courage to be yourself and live life to your fullest potential, living out your God-given unique purpose. Be willing to stand alone and step out (or fly out) when necessary. Focus more on what you think of yourself than what others think or say about you. You may FEEL alone, but you are not alone. There are a lot of eagles out there.

This new year is a great time to break FREE and see what God will show you! Believe in yourself, pray, stay strong, and have the courage to be independent - the experience of soaring with the eagles is one you don't want to miss!
